Previous years we could rely on our pack, FdP and Morne Steyn to deliver winning (boring 10-man) rugby. This year our forwards have been dominated, FdP has been injured, Morne Steyn doesn't look as good behind a retreating pack. Our backs are lightyears behing those of our SANZAR buddies, as you can see the whole team does not fill me with much confidence.
With all these "injuries" our squad may have a break but they wont have time to gel and to test out new combinations within out best XV, which leads me to believe that PDV will just play the usual suspects when they are fit again and that the first few Trinations games will be used to select cover for the WC. In spite of all of this the one thing we have an abundance of is experience, and history shows that experience can make up for lack of ability in major tournaments.

In 2007 we also sent a weak team to tri nations and later went to the WC and won it. So ur comment on not "gelling" isn't really founded. That is why we need experience of guys who knw where their supporting players are around them.
Tri-nations is a minor this year. I don't even care if we get thrashed. Its the bigger picture that counts. Always will be
