WTB: 1.25kg Olympic plate was created by xrapidx
Anyone know where I can buy 1.25kg Olympic plates locally (pref Cape Town)? The smallest I can find is 2.5kg.

I think finding 1.25kg Olympic weights will be very difficult. 1.25Kg Standard weights are more common.

So I'm finding - they're quite common overseas.

I found a guy in Bloem who will hopefully have stock next week: www.yourfitstore.com/product_info.php?products_id=197

I'm doing a 5x5 program - and it requires a bit of micro-management of the weights, I'm finding a 5kg jump between sets a bit much.

I've used the 5x5 before and encountered the same problem and managed not to have to get 1.25kg plates

If you doing a straight 5x5 program (ie same weight across all 5 sets), you might consider increase the weight by 5 kgs for the last 1 or 2 sets and gradually use more sets on the heavier weight.

Alternatively, if you ramping up your weights (which I do), you might consider either going for 6 reps on the last two sets or simply doing 3 reps on the 5kg more weight on the last set. Using either option, you'll get strong enough over a few weeks (took 3 for me) that you'll manage to break through your plateau.

Another option is simply to back off for a week or two and progress then, your body might just need a break.

I've successfully used variations of the above strategies over the years to get over plateaus.

I did find, still use them for slow progression, usually only on bench and OHP.

Got them here www.matrixfitness.co.za/
