Alcohol problem was created by mike80
Hi guys, I hope someone can help me. Last year I stopped consuming alcohol for 1 year. I used to drink a fair amount and never really struggled with hang overs but now I want to die when I drink 4 whiskies and water. It is the worse feeling in the world. I don't think this is normal, its as if my liver is not proccesing the alcohol the way it should. When I drink 2 beers in a evening, next day I am vommiting and I wish I could rather just die! I enjoy going out to friends and having a couple of drinks but I really can't take these hang overs anymore. Anyone have a suggestion for what I can take to just get my liver starting to work the way it should with regards to alcohol consumption.

Dude, there's lots of supplements you can take to protect and regenerate your liver, but none of them will address the symptoms you describe.

Go see a specialist before you're poked. Are you overweight, perhaps? Your liver can become equally dysfunctional regardless of the angle of attack: fat, booze or gear.

This really isn't the right forum to ask for advice about your problem with booze. If if affects you negatively, quit.

I agree with eidolon here. Just don't drink.

I stopped drinking for over a year now. And when I do have the odd few drinks I feel so terrible for days afterwards. Its ur body showing u how bad alcohol actually is. We all so used to consuming it that we build a resistance. But go without for a while and it hits u like a mutha fuka! So ja I stay clear. Maybe a glass of dry red once every couple of months.

P.s. I also quit smoking 3 weeks ago and I'm feeling GREAT! ;P

Bud you said earlier that you use to consume a fair amount of alcohol and not you feel your body cant process it. You are asking for help to get your liver to process the alcohol like it usedd to in other words so you can sonsume more alcohol again.

Far from a healthy lifestyle like you said above. Your body will turn on you soon acc to those symptoms. Funny thing is when you quit that lifestyle a few "friends" will also fade with it

No I said I used to drink until a year ago. Now, when I have a drink or 2 I feel like death the next day. I don't see why I need to stop drinking when its only 1 or 2 drinks on a friday evening, that's not even unhealthy. I did not say I want to "fix" my liver so that I can go out and get fuckt every night. I would just like to enjoy a couple(2) drinks with friends over a weekend and not feel so shit the next day.

I've never consumed any alcohol other than a few drops from LP's liquid orals, so I can't give advice on how to cure your hangover, but maybe those 1 or 2 drinks that make you feel so sick is a warning sign that there might be a problem evolving.

Are those drinks really worth you health? Like someone else mentioned, you might loose a couple of so called friends when you stop drinking, but I say let them "keep walking" with Johnnie Walker. What you need is friends in the gym, not the club or bar. I'm sure 99% of people here will disagree with me, but I do not support any form of recreational alcohol consumption. Too many lives have been fucked by those rotten starch drinks.

Went to a free style motorcross event yesterday, the line for water was about 30 min long as was part of the food line, while alcohol queue was 2 minutes, so I had 1 castle light and later 1 red squar, felt ugly, my skin started burning, urtaceria, and a big no go is booze , it just shows you how your body does not like alcohol , I woke up this morning tired, extremely tired, and the last drink was at around 3pm. My liver is one organ that is very healthy so it was nothing to do with that, just ones body dont respond well, unless the tolerance is built up. The last drink I had was over a year ago, I dislike alcohol I hate what it does to people and as admin said the lives it destroys, I lost many so called friends, which was a blessing..

While I agree with most of you guys here, having a social beer or 2 with your mates on a friday night is nopt destroying anything but rather strengthen friendships. As long as you keep it tidy, have a beer or 2 speak some nonsense its all cool, that being said if there are other factors in play such as your health or wellbeing then it would be in your best interest to stop until the underlying cause can be determined...

Just my 2c anyways.

I don't totally agree with jonny on that. Whilst u mentioned it strengthens friendships, I disagree fully. Friendship is about who u are as a person and not what u do as an individual. I used to get plastered with my mates every second day in my late teens and early 20's. So I stopped drinking but still went out with the same guys to the same places. They would have their drinks and get sloshed and I would have my glass of ice water with mint or a diet coke. After a few times my "mates" started to avoid me and I could feel an uncomfortable feeling between us. So the one nite we went out, I ordered my water and then.....then my FRIENDS told me that I embarrass them by not also drinking.

I must say that I walked out that nite and we haven't been friends since. We greet each other and that's it. They stopped drinking too now, 8years later. Their health demanded it.

Moral of the story is, if u need alcohol to strengthen a friendship then its not really a friendship. I'm my opinion. I'm better off without those guys. Coz if they can drop a mate for something as silly and meaningles as that what would they do when things really get tough.

Everything in moderation...

If your friends treated you like that there is no reason anyone elses are the same. I enjoy the occassional drink, but if i decide not to drink its all the same. My mates still drink heavily, but that doesnt mean they are less my friends than when i drank heavily too. I relapse every now and then and have a heavy night, but it just reminds me why i stopped... My body cant handle it anymore, and to be frank i just embarrass myself.

The friends of mine that drink still do things together with me that dont involve drink. I can go out with them and not drink if i like, and we can do stuff during the day together where there is no drinking, no problem.

I think its each and everyones personal choice, and as long as it is not abused i dont have a problem with it. The body definately loses its tolerance for alcohol over time, just like any drug

Um, but im scared of needles...

Don't know if its just me but nowhere was it mentioned that he wants 2 get plastered, booze makes people do dumb things but I don't see myself stopping having 2 beers or so when the rugbys on or when playing poker with my buds..

go get your liver tested to see if its working optimal. if it is fine and you still feel like that then you have two options.

1. keep on doing it and dont complain about feeling kak the next day
2. stop drinking

if its not ask your doc what you can take, try same by solal, as suggested by a couple of guys already.

Gee guys come on. The "plastered" comment was part of MY story and never implied that's what mike said! Also the reference to the friends leaving after the booze. Surely its quite simple...
