Mike
I might know why you feel that way- let me give you some background about myself first.
I used to drink every night for about 16 years. Had a rock band called Ondier- for the souties out there it means Beast. I was called that cause I drank like a beast. Never had a babbie, but my body was used to it. I stopped drinking a case a night about a year ago. Started going to gym and sort myself out. Now I am more dedicated than ever to get my body back top notch again.
One month in Botswana- that was also about 14 years ago- we had a beer drinking competition- to check who drank the most Black Labels during the month. I won- had over 500 bears that month- I came back with love handles and stretch marks on them just from that one month- but before anyone judge- that is the way I am- I am extreme in everything I approach or I leave it.
Just a bit of background Mike to let you see I know where you are coming from- I'm not gonna blah blah here on stuff I heard or read in a magazine or another forum, this is from own experience.
Anyway- are you on juice now Mike, and what are you currently using for supporting your liver?
The more liver supplements you use the more crap you'll feel when using alcohol.
And if you are on gear it puts more stress on your liver, which makes you feel extra kak.
People drink essentiale, prohep, milk thistle etc to protect their liver from booze or gear- and that is why you feel crap when drinking- cause your liver is not taking the punch or taking care of the alcohol / toxin like it used to, the poison is now in your body and not getting sorted out like before. As it is not absorbed you puke it out again, with that 3 year old worsbroodjie. Those type of babbies- At first you're scared that you are going to die, and then you get scared that you're not going to die.
I still like to kuier with my mates once a weekend- but it is not over the top anymore like it used to be- but if I know I am kuiering tonight, I leave the milk thistle for that day. Tomorrow I feel top notch again and continue my MT.
It took me a long time to figure out that it's my precaution supplements when going out drinking that were the culprits that made me feel extra bad the next day- even if I had only two or three drinks.
That is my only explanation.
If you don't take any liver supps or not doing any other form of detoxing, better get some liver tests done mate. Or change your brand, or your type of drink and see how it goes. Another thing I experienced is that I became a bit allergic to the brands I used to abuse. 10 years of Black Label every night, every gig, no problem. Now my nose and throat acts allergic to just one sip of black label.
I like my occasional drink, but also trying not to abuse it anymore. Nothing like a couple of Castle Lights or Windhoek Draughts with a 1kg T Bone braai and a good rugby match
