Ja I know the type, I stayed in the Free State for many years. Best place on earth, you dont have all this, 'cooler than thou' kak you have in cape town and if a guy smiles at you he is your friend and does not want to fck you. Classic one guys in Bloem are not renowned for being he most 'progressive' types where fashion and 'European type culture' is concerned but the Free State government at the time had a Tee shirt saying "Welcome to a Freer state of mind". It still cracks me up.

I'm as much Afrikaner as they get. I have the historical records of my entire family tree back to the late 1600's when they first arrived in the cape and eventually moved north with the "groot trek". I will have to confirm, but I think I'm the 6th generation on this farm and one of the old houses on the farm that were build out of stone still have burn marks from the Second Boer War when the Brits set the place on fire.

Don't ask me why, but this big Indian dude is all I could picture. Mayb it's cos half the Indian population, here and back in the motherland, is involved in IT I figured some indian dude is the owner of this site.

Its great that you can trace your history that far back and still live on the same farm where it all started.
