I've asked the mrs to pick up some phenergan, the adco-zetofen also works as an antihistamine and has provided a few better nights sleep but again the problem with these things is 1. developing a tolerance to them 2. something artificial is being used to make me sleep which again masks the problem.

I will definitely give it a try tonight and sleep in tomorrow morning but would still like to try and get to the bottom of all this :)

Thanks for all the input guys, I will take some phenergan tonight and report back tomorrow. :)

Antihistamine looks like a good option, if none of the more natural approaches work. Antihistamine is not necessarily harmless for long term use and there are some interactions to consider…
Here is a good site for more info on antihistamine

Just a quick one- Betasleep and Phenergan are both antihistamines. Phenergan is only much cheaper

Took 25mg phenergan last night and while I feel asleep quickly, my sleep obviously wasn't deep enough as my body decided it wanted to drop a load of water in the night! 3 trips in total, was not impressed!

Bed at 11, 3 trips during the night and then dozed on and of from 5.30am until 8.30. I will take again tonight and see how it goes....

So are you still sleeping? Did you find something that worked?

I've tried phenergan but that didn't really do the trick at 25mg, I could have increased the dosage but decided that it probably wasn't the right thing to do.

I have used adco-zetofen for the last week and that has helped a bit as well.

I'm making a concerted effort to switch tv,pc, mobile etc off at least 30 mins before bed, go through normal bedtime chores then read for a bit. That in conjuction with the zetofen has been working better :)

Its still not an ideal scenario taking the zetofen as im sure my body will develop a tolerance to it, plus I don't want to be reliant on it. Having said that, sleeping more solidly even with help is more appealing that tossing and turning all night.

Hey RoidRat

I'm trying something new this week to see if it helps.

I now switch TV off about an hour before bed, all the bright lights and moving images etc are potentially causing my mind to be far too active and not switch off.

I then get everything ready for the next day and read in bed for however long I can keep my eyes open. Normally about 10 minutes. I then either drift off fairly quickly but then 90 mins later wake needing a piss! The rest of the night is very much tossing and turning and because my sleep is too light I'm waking to go 2-3 more times for a piss.

This is the first 2 nights I have tried without the anti-histamine so I will give it until the weekend and see how it is by then, otherwise I will go back to adco-zetofen which seems to aid my sleep more than if I dont take it.

So to summarise, some improvement while taking anti-histamine and so far on this new trial bloody awful without anti-histamine.

DC

Monday night was probably a little more than normal and maybe it was just the body dropping water from the weekends carb stores but last night was limited water and still going at it.

@00Pump - not small amounts, pissing like a racehorse on all occasions!

It is called Dormicum Wayne ;)

DC - Biral is also a natural product- available over the counter (S1) and manufactured by Byk Madaus. Maybe give that a try as well if not mentioned already.

And have you tried ZMA yet? I was doing alot of reading around ZMA when I wrote the ZMA supplement label and must say it looks like something we can't do without! :woohoo:

This summed it up the best: www.exrx.net/Nutrition/Supplements/ZMA.html

I had actually stopped with ZMA a while back as I really didn't notice or feel any different on it. I was using large doses of Solgar zinc and magnesium spread throughout the day.

After chatting recently with our new Training Director he mentioned that the quality of the ingredients used in most supps in SA are poor and that it's almost worthless taking some things. He brings in Poliquin products directly for his use as the ingredients are so pure but maybe that's something I'll talk to you more directly about.

I'll start supplementing again with it on Monday, I want to ride out the next few days and see if my new nightly routine will start to kick in.
