Old Money was created by MCJ
Hi guys

My mother is looking to sell some of her old money. Various coins and notes. Some dating back to the 1930's. Problem is we don't know who buys this kind of stuff and how much its worth in case sumone wants to take her for a fool.

Does anyone know of sumone who collects or buys these type of things?
She doesn't trust online sites like Ebay, Gumtree or Bid or Buy.

Old coins are not worth much, unless it's a rare one that's certified and in perfect condition. 1930 is not old at all and the age doesn't make it more valuable. The thing that make it valuable is the rarity of it and it's condition and certification papers.

For example, sometimes a coin press' die will get damaged and print a couple of coins with some defect, usually this is corrected but some of these coins will end up in circulation and after a few years these coins are discovered and then they are considered very valuable. I know there is an old R1 coin where the ear of the springbok is missing and last time I checked they went for R25k or more, however a normal one is worthless.
