INternational vs Local supplements was created by Kaballas
Hi Guys. I am new to this website, and am allready loving it.
I have a question regarding local and foreign supplements. How do you think our local supplements compare to foreign supplements. For instance Evox Synergy Whey compared to Optimum Whey which they say is the best in the world, or maby BSN NO Explode compared to USN's equivelant. I just last night bought Evox 5XL and synergy which is on special at Dischem. I was actually going to buy 10lbs Optimum Whey which has 152 servings, but now got 190 servings togeteher for 3/4 of the price.

I used to live in Dallas, TX where I studied and worked. Supplements there is very cheap (meaning what you pay over there for products compared to what we pay over here for international products. Optimum, Gaspari, BSN, Muscletech, Animal etc.

Is it worth paying a premium for products like Optimum at say Dischem? Is is maby worth while to try and source these products yourself overseas in an atempt to save, and be frustrated with delayed delivery times and import costs not to mention struggling with customs. Does anybody have any comments on sourcing products from overseas themselves?

Welcome to the forum.

I used to buy ON Whey, but that was when 5lbs sold for R290. That was long ago and the prices are insane now, so I switched to local brands. These days I use Evox, BSSA and Supplements SA whey and find them to be good.

Evox send me some Synergy Whey the other day as a gift and I really like it. Ondier (member here) sell his own brand (BSSA) and it's very well priced and good quality as well.

I only buy Whey and never buy other supplements and the only time I take other supps is when supplement companies send me samples...

SPS Whey Isolate is good enough for me, agree with Admin, prices are absurd.

It is like you say, prices aree just to damn high. Are the local guys selling the foreign products just milking us, or are the importing and shipping costs that high?

Shipping, customs, most don't have that high a markup, take Springbok Pharmacy for example. IMO most supplements are not needed anyway, Whey, Animal Pak is all I really use.
