Has anyone taken this before? What is your views on it?

The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on...

Two double blind studies one on females and one on both genders studied the effects of Garcinia Cambogia on weight loss. Both of those studies showed no effect at all. Another double blind study this time on females put on calorie restricted diets reported an additional loss of 1.3kg of weight after 12 weeks above the placebo group. To me this shows potential. All studies were done at 2-3mg Garcinia Cambogia per day.

Can't agree with it. Don't know about the study Pyro is talking about, but weight-loss will occur anyway if calories are restricted.

Read here for nice explanation and studies ;)

Weight loss occurs anyways when calories are restricted (as above), and then the study found that there was an increase in weight loss for those who used Garcinia Cambogia compared to the placebo. In the studies without controlling calories, no benefit was seen. That link is for a blog which is never a good source of info (unless you are damn sure of the person running the blog). Have a look at the study he posted as a reference to the Garcinia Cambogia. Quote: "The results show a significant difference in weight reduction in favour of the active group (3.5 kg versus 1.2 kg)." The study also says that 85% of the total weight lost was fat loss. "This product shows promising results and should be studied more extensively at different dose levels."

But then there are studies like this one here that disagree. Also alot of the studies that observed weight loss was from drop-out rates.

Then studies like this one here shows hydroxycitric acid has negligible effect.

Sorry if my previous post was a bit inconclusive, I just think that because studies contradict one another, one isolated study doesn't give reason. I think garcinia cambogia is interesting, but the fact is it doesn't affect humans in the same way it does rats (where upon the idea was based) because of different chemical pathways. I'll still keep an eye out for it and see where supplementation of garcinia cambogia goes.

No need to apologise dude. You need to read and understand medical studies because people interpret the data differently. I am not saying you do this but don´t just speed read them (or not read them at all). The first study you posted now was in individuals without controlling diet, which as said above showed negligible results in fat loss. Post those studies that observed fat loss was from drop-out rates please. Your second study showed i.m.o a good result for Garcinia Cambogia. It showed a weight loss difference of on average 4.1kg vs 3.2kg- that is a 30% increase in fat loss in the active group! That is not negligible.
