Hi All

Firstly let me just start by saying I usually try to avoid using supplements in general, I feel like most of them are just a bunch of snake oil. That being said I was looking into getting a casein protein as I am busy bulking and as I am a student my time schedule is a bit out of sync with the rest of the world :lol: however I have found that at night i start craving carbs.

So I just wanted an opinion on supplement factory, or any other reputable manufacturer.

i have been using their stuff for a long time. good quality, whey is sourced from Germany.

you can try cinnamon for cravings or increase your fats a little and eat more fiber.

why specifically casein, its expensive

@Demolish Casein protein takes a long time to digest so basically you don't go catabolic in your sleep. Released over around 8 hours I think. It is expensive haha I just have a few spoons of cottage cheese before bed.

I eat too much fat as is so that was my thinking behind the protein and not just uping fat

Yeah i know exactly what casein is bud, im asking why you want to use that instead of whey? I have had good results from their whey isolate.

and with regards to casein, you are better of getting it from whole food like cottage cheese.

And another thing ,depending on what protein source you eat each has a different rate of absorption. You need about +-5g of leucine per meal to stay anabolic. Fat and fiber also slow disgestion down

here is a reference of protein absorption

Protein Absorption Rate (g/hour)
Raw Egg Protein * 1.4
Cooked Egg Protein * 2.9
Pea Protein 3.5
Milk Protein 3.5
Soy Protein Isolate 3.9
Casein Isolate 6.1
Whey Isolate 8-10
Tenderloin Pork Steak * 10.0


So yes casein digests slower, but do you get that leucine spike.....
