Biltong Keto? was created by AnnieS
Hi guys, I'm a girl and I used a Keto diet very sucessfully 2 years back (with gear) to loose the last few kg's for my figure contest. I gained a lot of weight and have about 20kg of fat to loose, although I added a substantial amount of muscle.

I do not want to use any roids this time around, but I only have around 14 weeks left till the show. I started my first week (29/12) with a normal keto diet (the one I used for my prep) and dropped 4kg's. This week I went on a Biltong Keto (#1) and unfortunately didn't loose anything eventhough I feel leaner. I'm demotivated now, but what I want to find out from you is if you think is the sodium content of the biltong and droe wors that is keeping water back? I do take tissue salts for water retention, but I easily keep water back.

I wanted to Keto for 3 weeks, changing diets every week. I have a Keto diet 2 as well, but am scared, because I cannot afford going a week without loosing 1-2kg's. I do not cheat, I am in ketosis, I cardio (only 45 min 6x/day because I am a while out from the show)and I train 5 days/week, heavy!

I feel that maybe the keto worked better with the kessar, proviron, anavar, clen, cyt3, stanazol, etc that I used. I got my diets form a very relieble source, a well known guy who couch a lot of people.

I am in desperate need of your help! :(

Hi Annie,

Are you sure that you didn't overdo the amount of calories due to high fat content of droe wors?

hi Annie ...ok I dont do contest but the way I see the keto diet which I use a lot with the amount of cardio and training u are doing u can eat as much protein and fat as it takes
I also dont believe in removing the saturated fat from the protein ..leave skin on the chicken Rine on the pork chop sausage fatty biltong ect ect Saturated fat imo makes u feel full and satisfied quicker and burns as fuel quicker ...take omega 3 as a sup
1. u could be picking up muscle ?
2. If u think water retention drink a lot more water.
hope this helps..goodluck with the comp. B)

Mike, I don't think you can eat as much protein and fat as you wish on a keto diet, because you still have to eat less calories daily than what your body need or you will not loose fat anyway. That's what I believe the problem is with AnnieS' diet.

The problem with droe wors is that it's impossible to determine it's nutritional value unless you have every piece tested first. It's not consistent at all and one piece will have X grams of fat and the next piece will have Y grams of fat and if you don't know exactly how much you are eating you will not be able to determine your calorie intake.

I'm no diet expert and that's why I ask DJ for help with my diets, so maybe he can give us some input.

I didn't do any calculations, but by just looking at AnnieS' diet the amounts of fats and proteins seem a little too high to me?

Huge difference between Atkins and bodybuilding.. Calories = Calories regardless were they come from.. It's what the diet is structured to do to the body.

Ok guys,

so I did not loose weight on the first biltong keto...here's the next one that I started on Saturday. I felt dizzy yesterday, almost asif my blood sugar went very low. I felt it on Saturday too, but yesterday was worse.

M:1
4 Full eggs
100g Salmon
M:2
60g Droe wors (I hear what you say about it admin, and I agree)
20g Whey
1tbsp flax seed oil (mike123, this is omega 3 oil(and 6))
M:3
1/2 can tuna
1tbspn Olive oil
30g Mozerella
M:4
50g Whey
1tbspn coconut oil
M:5
250g Ostrich mince (this is again too much for me to consume)
M:6
50g Whey
1 tbspn flax seed oil

I dropped 1kg, at last!

I also found GHG in the fridge that my hubby used last year while competing. Unfortunately it was already mixed. It's been mixed since August 2012, and I read that it's only good for 20 days after mixed. I took a chance and used it, but the injection site hurts. There's only 14 iu's left, so I thought it might boost my fat burning at 2iu's this week. I will asses this week and see where I am with my body fat, but I guess I'm about 22-25% (ouch!)

13 weeks left and I am getting anxious... will I make it without roids! I knew I did it last time with, but want to proove myself that I can do it without it. This is going to be my first IFBB show, and that is why I want to do the novice one...

Also, I don't go deep into ketosis, every time I test the ketostix, it's light in colour, either beige or light pink. It was the same with my previous contest prep, but I made sugnificant changes in 3 weeks...

I checked my calories on this new diet using calorie king:

calories: 1957, 249.9g Protein, 96.8g Fat, 10.79g Carbs (mostly from the whey-SSN)

I am 28 Years old, 1.65m tall, weigh 78kg, and obviously a female.

I will finish Friday on this diet, will have a cheat of sushi and coke light, then I will get back on Karen Session's calorie diet. I'll still see what happens with my weight this week in order to determine which calories to use. Am I on the right path here?

Coke light is used as a duretic in order to get rid of the unwanted water retention caused by the high sodium of the biltong keto diets, or that is what I was told. I will wait for his reply, thanks. I did tons of research for contest preps over the years, but it's a total different thing going clean as oppose to using gear. I'm so tempted, but had bad health issues the times I used it...that's the reason I am deciding to stay clean. I will use CYT3 and Zaditen, some Helios, eca's, etc, all the fat burners, but I feel Primabolan gave me hell of an appetite, the Nomadex made my estrogen levels sky rocket when I went off it, I love anavar and stanazol as well as proviron...and the biggest obsticle I face when coming off a contest diet is my cravings for bad food. I gained nearly 20kg's in 3 weeks the first time I used it. Yes, I overdid it, yes, I did not taper it down...but when I tried it last year again, I fell sick, had to stop 2 hours of cardio and weight training all at once as per my dr and also leave the diet. I was 7 weeks out and just started using again. I kept a good diet, but still gained nearly 8kg. I drop weight easily with roids, my first week I dropped 5kg (the second time I tried competing before I got sick) and that was with a normal diet with carbs. I sturggled with water retention eversince I first competed. I think its because of the amount of duretics I used. Everytime I go for sprints, my joints and fingers swell a lot.

It's a challenge...

Yep its a lot of hard work and dedication ...coke light = caramel and salt ...I think u would be better drinking a lot of water 4 to 6 litres for the water retention.
Something u can try after contest is substitute the so called good fat for saturated fat
IE 200gr chicken with skin...200gr normal lean mince...200gr pork chop with the rine ect ect..this might help with the graving for junk food....see if it works B)

If u are on a protein and fat diet the cravings should subside after 2 weeks..so u have to be strong for 2 weeks and I would stay on Keto for 6 to 12 weeks before doing carb ups or carb cycling but u will have to stay away from sugar at all costs ...nothing like a lekker slab of chocolate... :P

I thought I must just be in ketosis for about 21 days. I heard that I will loose muscle mass. I checked, and my previous diet (the one I did not loose weight on) also had about the same amount of macro nutrients and calories as this one. I feel flat, no energy and my strength is decreasing. I do a lot of Crossfit style workouts and sprints to lean out my heavy legs, and I am trying to build a better V-Taper and big round shoulders, but my energy to preform these workouts are low.

I dislike the keto diet and aren't sure if I will manage it for so long. I feel foods like these are unhealty, I know its all in my mind, but I see the ideal contest diet as oats, yams, green fib. veg and lean proteins as the way to go. I just wanted to keto for 3 weeks (from 15 weeks out) to shock my body to loose weight quickly. But I did not loose as much as I was hoping for. So you'd advice me to go longer...?

I calculate your BMR at 1650 Cal's. I suggest you start there and use exercise to create the deficit you need to lose weight.

I try to burn at least 600 calories daily which I track with my polar. I do 45 min cardio daily and weight training, although I am trying to go as heavy as possible with most muscle groups, with the weight training I burn about 250calories. Would this deficit be enough if I go on a 1600 cal diet?

And the calculation you did was for weight loss, am I correct, not maintanance?

Ok, so I checked all my calories, and no wonder I did not loose anything last week, my first week I consumed 1440 calories. I did not do any cardio though, it was around the 29th Dec and I just started out after a month of wrong eating! Last week I was on 2021 calories and did 6 x 45 min cardio. This week (Saturday I sprinted and yesterday was an off day) I only consumed 1957 calories. slightly lower than last week, but at least I dropped. I think as from today I will reduce some calories and keep you updated with my progress. I still don't know what I must do as from Saturday, because then I'm 12 weeks out and I seriously need to be ready in 12! I cannot afford any mistakes.

Tanks a lot for all your input guys!
