Gravity Keto Log was created by Gravity
As an information source for future visitors I will log my meals, workouts, and effects over the next 30-37 days.
Thanks to DJEasyE, Inja, and Beesting for all the help getting this and my future diet and cycle sorted out. First entry in the morning - I just at the last of my carbs for a while! Raosted Chicken, Rice, Green Beans, and Gravy! Yum!
Till then. Vas Byte!

Ok - Day one done and dusted.
I really had a hard time planning my meals as you will see but it will get easier.
Food was good all day - to long for the gaps in between some of the meals forced me to play catch up with "Whey" and Flax Seed Oilbut I am better equipped for tomorrow.
Workouts -
Cardio 6:30 - 45 min at 1 incline 5.5 pace - felt good. Drank lots of water, came home starving!
15:00 - Legs - 3 sets of 5 ATG squats HEAVY, 3 sets of 5 extensions, 3 sets of 5 strait leg deads. Felt pretty good.
Food -

Hey gravity. Try adding in 2 tablesspoons of peanut butter, the sugar free one from yum yum is pretty low in carb. Take one after cardio and one after weight training, that will get your fat up nicely to 150g. As for the carb goal of 30g, no need to worry about that. Add in some low carb sausages with the morning eggs if you want to help get your protein up to 300g, and fat to 150g

well in my honest opinion dude i think your diet is shit, you need to have your meals evenly calculated, like if u are having 8 meals u need to have the same amount of protein fats in each meal, this will keep your metabolism running nicely and u wont feel so crap,DROP THE DAIRY!! no cottage cheese no cream,it contains lactose and it can knock u out of ketosis,u are having to little fats in your first 2 and last 2 meals and then u load it right in the middle,i think u are gonna be hungry to often through out the day, drop the flaxseed oil as it tastes like a horse's rear end and it to heavily loaded with omega 6's u need a equal balance between omega 3's and 6's. olives in oil?? no go dude,u find that alot of companies use inferior oil sources meaning they might be saying they use extra virgin olive oil and in fact its canola or sunflower oil. i have done a shit load of reading about atkins and body opus style ketogenic diets and i find that the saturated fats are too high, fats are not just fats and the polyunsaturated and monosaturated fats are the ones that u need to aim for hence the reason i am a big fan and use the palumbo diet myself as apart from maybe 20g(maximum!!!) of fats a day are saturated from your meats the rest is all heart healthy fats...your choice,u might work on that diet but i honestly believe that saturated fats are no good even in a ketogenic situation.

You could add coconut oil somewhere in the mix as well. Medium chain triglyceride and will help get you in ketosis easier.

pointless unless u are doing high intensity sport as it burns like a carb yohimbe, was reading up on what dave palumbo said about mct,and he only suggests about 1 table spoon pre fighting session so u dont burn into muscle with the long duration of the fighting training as its almost like high intensity cardio which is use glucose for fuel not fat...

I was reading that they use it in epilepsy patients as it allows them to stay in a state of ketosis, but increase carbs making the diet more palatable.

www3.interscience.wiley.com/cgi-bin/full.../121501138/HTMLSTART

Because it burns quicker, wouldn't this mean you're using fat more readily as your energy source and keeping you in ketosis more easily?

I had no idea how hard it was going to be to get the macros right.
I am doing better today, and will continue to get better. Thus the log - learning from my mistakes.
Anyone want to suggest some things to add to my grocery list.

that to me makes no sense what so ever as carbs and insulin spikes will bring u out of ketosis so how can having mct's and carbs keep u in ketosis, look mct oils have their time and place like if u are doing mma fighting but if u are on the route to drop the 20kgs of body fat u are holding then i would go for the polyunsaturated fats and the monosaturated fats aswell as essential fats,it just makes sense in my mind,u can get lean on carbs u can get lean on fats its just how your body responds to things is the way u should approach the diet,if u are prone to put on fat when looking at carbs (like me which took me 2 years to find out) then keto is your friend but then u get guys like Classic1 and skythe that i had diet down on +/- 250g of carbs...their bodies can handle it... but as for mct's i dont think u need them during keto unless u are doing HIT

In Reference to these:
1.I will calculate them better - first day is alway hard, plus we had a work emergency that made me go a long time with no food - I was lucky to get the 50g of chicken which is nothing.

2.Dairy is dropped - (from now I had some at breakfast) didn't know about lactose. Can I use the cream in my 1 cup of coffee in the morning - 2 tsp?

3.I like the taste of flaxseed oil. - I must be odd.

I don't mind being hungery just so you know. I also am only going to get in 6 meals a day so I need to break it up like that. I also need ideas while I am at the office, there is a Cafe' near that will cook me whatever I want pretty much - ideas? I just posted this in its own reply but what else can I get at the grocery store?

Shot a lot - DJ, Beesting!

Found this on it
www.mynchen.demon.co.uk/Ketogenic_diet/Supplements/MCT_oil.htm

I haven't tried this myself or checked if it actually works-just know a friend of my mother whose kid has epilepsy and they swear by the keto diet for controlling seizures and use coconut oil for mct to ensure he stays in ketosis at all times.
May not translate into fat loss, as this isn't the reason he's on the diet, I was just thinking if it helps you stay or kicks you into ketosis quicker, it may assist with fat loss.

Agree different strokes for different folks-I also can't handle carbs.

Depends - I help people with stuff often for free sure.
But I thank you for what you have given me so far, its been a big help.
If you feel like you have reached the end of you genorosity thats totally cool, I can barely afford the food I need to eat.
So big thanks for all you have done.
Anyone else have some ideas on what I should be getting and the local SPAR to get my macros moving int he right direction.

yes staying in ketosis and using mct's u will be fine but the minute u add carbs he will come out of ketosis... that the way keto works, and depending on the amount of carbs it will vary as to how long it will take him to get back into ketosis,i mean i will have a 400g carb cheat meal on a sunday and will be back in ketosis the next morning but if he is consuming 20-30g of carbs he will be back in ketosis shortly after that maybe 2-3 hours...

lactose = carbs
carbs kick you out of ketosis

2.6g of carbs per 100grams doesn't seem like much to me

lactose is milk sugar, sugars spike insulin and the reason u are on keto is to stop insulin spikes and keep blood sugar levels stable and constant,2.6g per 100g doesnt seem like much but stop being a pussy and diet hard and if it means dropping useless calories from milk and cream then just do it...

2.6 per 100 is nothing since I had 25g. So yea I will keep it low, but heck even Macadamia nuts (i have added these to my diet) at 13.6 per 100g.
So cream is a better option if you base it purely on carbs.
Anyway just making sure it was due to the carb content and not some magical lactose trick.
Cheers!
