Dude the amount of creatine in supplements is so small it can be ignored, if u want rather take creatine separate! But at your age I would not take any supplements including protein shakes and creatine! It seems you are asking the same questions over and over expecting a different answer- you are going to hear it from everyone! Normal food is better than supplements period, so follow dj's diet, gym hard and you will get results!

Bud I agree with progr3ss1v3. Except I.m.o the protein shakes should be fine. But I would wait with the Creatine until you are out of school.

Dude, I am probably the dumbest guy on this forum but I'm always willing to help where I can. You post too many questions that can easily be researched. And never listen to any salesman at a supplement section cause for every piece of SHIT supplement you buy they get commission etc.

You are 17, and I know when kids your age decide to train, the first stop is the supplement store. The you are brainwashed by all the labels and words of the sales people! Bottom line is supplements are BULL SHIT and worthless at this stage of your training. What you need to do is eat 10 tons of brown/white rice, potato/sweet potato a day. Consume around a 1000 cals more than what you need for maintenance and work out your macros so that you get the right amount of protein and fats as well.

Muscle builders and supplements aren't going to transform you from being an ectomorph to the hulk. It's eating and training that will get you there.

Go look up Chris Jones on youtube and check how he looked when he was younger, probably weighed 30kg's, 6 years later he is a 180lb beast.

NUTRITION is key! Forget about supplements for at least the first six months!

If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you

Well it was just a round figure! Without being rude, offensive or nasty, if you weigh 47kg's and you're 17 you are skinny as hell! Unless off coarse you are 1.2m tall.

Maybe 1000cals is a bit much and unrealistic cause it's quite a lot of food! But to gain lean mass he will definitely need to eat a lot more, but clean!

I don't understand the hype of supplements! In my experience (even though it's little ;)) supplements are only required if you have a really suckish schedule and can't fit all your meals, then just drink a whey shake or so! People really tend to glorify supplements, having the wrong perception of the kind of results it will yield. At the end of the day, food is a lot more important than any supplement you take! The guys on juice even have a strict diet, if not, they would certainly not make the same gains.

I'm sure that even if he just cleans up his diet without eating excessively he WILL be able to make muscle gains and shape up!

If it doesn't challenge you, it doesn't change you

Yeah I def agree with you that muscle builder/ meal replacement shakes are a load of kak. In terms of one's diet, if you want to grow then you should add 10-15% to your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE). This normally works out to about 300-500 cals more than your TDEE. Remember there is a limit to how much muscle your body can build in a day. Any excess energy and it will simply store it as fat. So unless you are HUGE and I mean HUGE then I would Definately not add 1000 cals to your TDEE cause you WILL get fat.

Thanks so much for that article, I was not in the mood to type all that out.

Regarding creatine, I'm 21 now, have been using creatine since I was 16, and I have to say it is awesome. Regarding everyone telling you not to even use protein shakes, maybe a bit extreme, if anything a good protein shake during lunch at school could help a lot.

I do agree with what everyone is saying regarding DJ's diet though, just follow that. I don't see anything wrong with supplementing with creatine though. When I was 16, I weighed roughly 60 to 65kg, I'm still the same height now, and I weigh 92kg, and this, although creatine and protein shakes were a part of this, was achieved over the years following what everyone here is telling you, EAT AND TRAIN LIKE A BEAST. There's no getting around that fact
