@Mrfeathers I heard today that we're looking at getting our hands on Drogba. Thoughts?

heard about it too. to be honest he is definitely the best free agent available, and no doubt he would add some quality and killer instinct to our attack. but he is a chelsea legend. i highly doubt he would sacrifice his cult hero status by joining their London rivals.

looks like just press talk to me

I agree drogba is a legend! ive always loved that guy except when he tore apart arsenal all those times

But he is in the last few years of his career and will go for money, wages which we unfortunately cant afford or wont pay...

If Drogba joins Arsenal I will start watching club football again! Then we just need to get Chevchenko.

oh and just a little quote that i thought was really relevant and funny. this is what olivier Giroud had to say regarding RVP. "people need to be patient with me, RVP scored 30 goals last season, but it took him 8 years to reach that level"

touche' Giroud, touche'

ive always loved and rated that long legged french MF. he is at the peak of his powers now at 26.
2 things worry me though.
1) his injury record
2) keeping the guy!! as soon as someone starts to perform in a gunners shirt we sell them. my battery gets pissed on every season

@MRfeathers...im also worried about his fitness for the season i saw he picked up a knock but should probably play this weekend, hahaha those long legs keep the ball like no other player in the league

@Greg...i wont lie i didnt believe in him but i think its because we have hardly seen him play two games in a row due to his injuries, but i was definitely wrong he can be one of the best if he stays fit!

(Not going to start a new thread)

Champions League starts again tonight woo hoo. Man City vs Real should be a Cracker. A shit load of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ will be running around on that field. It'll be a good measure to see where City really is at.

And of course we are playing Montpellier, I reckon Giroud could break his duck against his old side tonight.

Going to be pressing the ALT button on my remote excessively tonight

hopefully Giroud gets off the mark. he is lacking some confidence. Montpellier will be a stern test but the real work comes in our following 2 fixtures. City and Chelsea. that should separate the men from the boys and we'll see if Arsenal are title contenders or just pretenders. im quietly confident though.

PS: 6 goals on the weekend!! wheres your famous RVP???

Man United also managed to score 4 without RVP and when he did come on he missed an easy chance, just goes to show that one player doesn't make a team!

Dont know about you guys but im not too worried about Girouds goals just yet,Gervinho has always been a striker by trade, wenger just plays him on the wing so im glad he was given a shot to prove himself and that he did!

hahaha...big big united supporter mate, cant believe i just saw this thread now. But big-ups to arsenal mate, podolski looks good and it seems that gervinho may also be coming to the party this season. That said, I think Arsenal's title ambitions will lay on the shoulders of carzola - he looks a complete player and as long as he stays fit I believe that Arsenal will be challenging hard this season. Giroud will take some time to settle as many french players generally do when making the transition to the EPL, but again, if he comes good, he will be brilliant.

As for start of the champs league, hoping to see man Shitty getting a proper walloping by real this evening.

im pleased you got your wish last night and Madrid stuck it to Shitty

Yeah, always had respect for the gunners and, despite all the criticism he recives, I think Wenger is a great tactician who has done wonders with the limited resources he has been allocated. Watched the Shitty - Madrid game last night and it was hell of an entertaining encounter. Both defences however seemed muck and for some reason, City just doesnt seem to have the same all-conquering feel about them this season that was so evident last season.

That said, how epic is yaya toure - one of the best box to box mid fielder I have seen play in a long time (well at least since Patrick Vieira)

for me yaya is in a class of his own to be honest. i rate him as one of the top midfielders in the modern game, he has a bit of everything pace, power, vision, is as good going forward as he is providing defensive cover. Fan of tevez as well and as a united supporter, canlt blame the buy for leaving. One thing about fergie is that he can often come across as being somewhat disrespectful to footballers who have fallen out of favour with him, one needs to only look at his recent handling of the berbatov debacle to see this.

@GSP- i see what you are saying about Fergie being disrespectful to players, but you have to give it to him he knows a dickhead when he sees one and at his age with his level of experience and achievements id also tell "troublemakers" to go to hell...Rooney is another one and im glad Fergie stood his ground and showed him who's boss

I think Nani is next on his list i couldn't believe with the possible move to Zenit he was demanding more wages than Hulk, what a tool haha

what do you mean by the berbatov debacle? last i heard before he left was fergie said he can go with pleasure and wont hold him back did i miss something?

No, most definately agree you mate. Fergie is a hard man and will not succumb to the whims of footballers, particularly ones with a bad attitude. However, I believe that in certain cases, Fergie has made bad choices in the players he has let go and has often been overly critical in passing the blame on the player when such a decison is made. Jaap Stam and David Beckham comes to mind. Also, while a lot could be pinned on Tevez's greedy agent, I also think that Carlos had felt unappreciated at United, particualry as fergie's only attempt to secure his services after his contract ended was made via sms. In terms of berbatov, I think snubbing him by not even giving him a place on the bench in the champs league was a bit harsh. I always found berba to be a model professional, never complained about his situation and always made explicit that he would serve United in any way the manager saw fit. However, I remember during last seasons's second transfer window that Fergurson made explicuit that berbatov would not be sold and would feature in his plans when PSG started sniffing aeround him. However, it just seemed like fergie was keen to let him rot in the reserves.

However, i dont believe you becoming as a successful manager as ferguson is by being mr nice guy. As mentioned, he is a bad mofo, and his take-no-shit personality is prob why United are as successful as they are today.

Oh ya i remember that and i agree that he either should have let berbatov go or give him some game time because he is truly a world class player and it must have been devastating to see the likes of hernandez and welbeck start above him!

You are right he could have handled Beckham and stam better maybe even pique, As for Tevez i think Fergie was already gatvol by that point, look he's an amazing player but as a person lets just say i think himself and balotelli are from the same family haha and all in all you are better off without him especially after the way he has carried on at city...

Cant wait for this weekend im hopeful that arsenal can beat city i think we have a real chance, as for your game what fan doesn't like to see liverpool get a proper hiding! lol

Yeah mate...gonna be an epic weekend. Can see Arsenal beating City to be honest, city's defense looks very dodgy this season and I believe that Arsenal have finally invested in some world class and experienced players such as carzola, podolski and giroud, to complement exceptional younger players such as the ox, jenkinson and even walcott to some degree. Felt that most of their previous misfortunes was due to the fact that they lacked maturity in the team, but I think that Wenger has rectified this issue this time around. As for Liverpool, they will give us a game but cant see us leaving with anything less than a point at anfield. If suarez doesnt bring his a-game, I cant see the likes of borini causing either vidic or ferdie any issues. However, that spearing lad doesnt look to bad and gerrard always seems to turn up when they play us.
