Gym Etiquette was created by gambit
I am really getting annoyed with my gym now. The guys are either not racking the weights or when they do they put it in the wrong place, ie, 13kg db's where 26kg db's suppose to be etc... The other thing thats really pissing me off now is that some ppl now decided to turn the weights area into a cardio zone, doing crunches/skipping etc... now seriously FFS there is a studio where you can skip/crunch to your hearts content but dont fcuking push the benches to the corners so you can come frikken skip here. Anyways, i just needed to vent somewhere, thanks for listening.

ah... the lesser spotted douchebaggisidiots... mating habits include prancing around with ILS (invisible lat syndrome) and leaving the weights everywhere... and having a huge pile of weights to do supersets... half reps...half reps everywhere! lol.

HAHAHA! Curl Monkeys!
There's a dude at the one Virgin Active... I am not sure... but he either has a muscle defect or he is working out in a completely unbalanced manner... (only ever see him doing curls and bench)...
He has big biceps and front delts... but his back is flat... he even hunches forward a bit.. bad muscle imbalance?

In the book of Arnie 1 v 1 "On the first day he said let there be bench pressing. And there was bench pressing. Flat benching, incline bench and dumbbell benching. And it was gooooood"...

I make sure i dont train chest on a monday, because it seems that Mondays are national chest days. Sometimes i have to becuase of the split training program but i always try and avoid the monday chest routine cos you wont get a bench available.

There are two Virgin Actives in my area...Vanderbijl and Vereeniging... Vereeniging is doing a big upgrade on their aircons so everyone is pissed of cos it's hot and there's sometimes no hot water in the showers... meaning they all go to Vanderbijl while the renovation is happening... I sometimes go to the Vanderbijl one when I have band practice on a Monday. But now they are OVER OVER full... two gyms worth of "wanna get in shape before summer"... what a pain...

I have to agree. Gyms are packed, and especially on a Monday. And these flippin seasonal gymmers are more interested in finishing their conversation than training.

Just yesterday, I asked this youngers to be careful as I was doing flyers and didn't want to knock him. The idiot first checked out by body, then gave me this dirty look.

F off man. Go train in the girls section

Hahahaha this whole thread is sooooo true! I think everyone of us here feels the same way!
Since beginning of Sept everywhere I drive I see these fatties trying to "get in shape" jogging. Two weeks later there is none!

And the Gym is a total mess! 30 days ago It took me 1-1.5 hours to finish my program. Now it takes 2 hours+ to finish. If you didn't have the motivation to train through winter WHY would it be any different now???????? FFS I don't mind other people wanting to better themselves but then you must either DO IT or you must be a Hot Girl then you can pounce around all you want.

I once was a newbie as well but I knew my place and didn't bug the guys that I could see that’s serious and didn't get in their way.

Good luck guys! It will only until mid to end of October then things will be pretty much back to normal!

Thats why I enjoy training in winter. The gym is aaaallll mine.

To the Cape Town okes, does anyone train at the Sports Science Centre in Newlands. Is it over-crowded as well?

The worst is the rugby jocks that colonise the Smith machine!

All 5 of them stand around a machine in their short tight pants and rugby jerseys (just so you know they are tough rugby players bru) and talk sh!t about how hard they hit this one dude on the field on Saturday.

I once watched them and noticed that they stayed on the same machine for an hour and a half just taking it in turns to "pump it bru" and talk crap.

eventually I just went home, didnt have time to wait another hour for them to finish hogging.

If its worth doing, its worth doing properly.

I will only rack weights if I find it racked. By 530am the place is a mess already. What's worse is when some wanker takes the 40 or 50 kilo barbell then you are like on an easter egg hunt throughout the gym for it. Don't know what's wrong with the 10 metres of mirror in the weight area. But No. He needs a 1 square meter mirror that's covering a pillar for him to train in front of and see that he using kak form and wasting my time

Yesterday this clown comes when I am training back with my friend, picks my two 10kg plates up without so much as a glance and puts them on his leg press machine. So I finished my set and went and took them off while he was still using them. Claremont VA.... Worst etiquette ever. And if you are on here you are a knob.

To you it may look like I just did a push-up... But in fact, I just bench-pressed the world.

The Wild Curlbros! They have perfected a full gym-day routine consisting just of curl variations, including curling in the squat rack!

Ditto what was said about Claremont. Point's etiquette is also pretty bad, but the staff are reminding people to use sweat towels and rack equipment. Justice!

Other problem with gyms in general is putting the background music too loud or just piss poor positioning of the speakers.

Chapel, what time do you train at Claremont? Its my usual and I can agree with you there are some a-holes there in terms of just having a general lack of consideration for others.

The worst for me is people who don't respect personal space, just takes one dumbbell dropped on their toes "accidentally" to remind them to back up.

I use to hate it when guys don't use towels and sweat all over the benches then just get up and leave after using it  I would have to walk around looking for that disinfectant spray to wipe it down
