Volgende: >22 Hornet
Volgende een lyk soos 7x57 or 8x57.

Groete, laat weet as jy nog wil weet.

Also remember, for the 338 you will burn 'n lot of powder, whereas for the 284 you will basically burn half the amount of powder for the same performance. Makes you think...

Dankie.

MK of P14?

Joune lyk nog baie mooi, hou hom so.

Novice, your budget 15K for just the rifle, or scopes everything included. We can discuss what actions etc would be best suited for the purpose.

Also, you want to buy off the shelf or custom make one?

First off... I can confirm everything SV says as gospel... The 6.5x284 is the holy grail.
But if I listen to the OP, a 300 winmag or 7mm remmy might be ideal...

Using a 180gr bullet in the 300 and a 150 gr bullet in the 7mm.

And then further just to add (since im a 270 fan)
Do a google search, when it comes to price/availability/long range/flat shooting, i doubt anything can touch the 270 winmag.

Thanks for all the replies guys,
Sorry been so quiet, works been very busy.

I think Im going to go for the 300win mag after all, it seem like a powerful enough caliber to shoot distance and good for hunting as well.

Now for the brand.. I've narrowed it down to a Howa 1500 or Remington 700,
Do any of you have either of these brands and can comment on their build quality?

Hey Guys!

I got a Glock 19 Gen 3, its BEAUTIFUL!

However, I REALLY struggle to conceal it when I am carrying it!

If any of you have a glock, do you guys have a special holster that you have, or one that you prefer using! I have a leather one now, cant remember the name, but they supposedly the best, but I really still struggle to conceal!

Thanks Gents!

Model 700 is of the best. Would also look at a tikka t3 or savage rifle.

No dude but try concealing a .357 5 inch barrell with compensator, full chrome with black rubber grips. absolute beauty. I never carry it around though, been in the safe for more then 3 years. Prior to that was a CZ 9mm but the b@stard kept jamming and the safety did not work, typical CZ.
Why do you carry yours around?

EDC is a must

the better question is why do more people not carry ??? :P

Is your holster in the waist band or outside the waistband - what type of clothes do you wear daily?

Haha bud let me know if you find a solution they are beautiful weapons but a bit too big to conceal properly. The only thing I can think of is wearing it in a chest holster under a large jacket.

I've got a glock 23 sub-compact which I can wear on my waist.

Both are very good, strong actions. You can get the Howa 1500 action and blue trueprint it still for less than a REm 700. I have a friend that shoots with a 6mm Dasher and he puts cloverleafs at 350-400m. Thus the Howa actions are very good, and gives you some money to get nice glasses.

Why the 300WM? What do you want to shoot? Again, are you going to buy factory ammo or are you going to reload? The answer to this question will determine which rifle is best

The 23 is a .40 compact. The 27 is the sub-compact.

Switch, look at these:

www.highnoonholsters.com/Product_Line/Pu...c_secret_w-clip.html

www.usgalco.com/Marketing/Fletch.htm

This was from a quick search, I am sure there are local sources but if you dig a bit into google you'll find companies and/or individuals in the US that make holsters. I would fork out a bit more for such a purchase because they are custom made and good quality, it'll last you the rest of your life.

Thanks SV,

Im mainly wanting this rifle for some long distance target shooting, 800m+, but I cant afford the .338 or 6.5x 284 so I thought the next best thing would be a 300WM?

I am definitely going to be reloading as Ill be able to taylor my loads to perfect my shooting abilities as I progress.
Like you said in earlier posts, I can start off with a howa or rem action and build on that. just trying to find which gun would better suite me as a starting point.

I hear you on buying a Howa and using the left over cash for better optics but are they seriously that good?
And ill be buying stainless irrespective of brand so that makes the price difference +- 4k or so?
And ther's that issue of the stainless Howa's being recalled, has that all been sorted out now?
I am seriously cosidering the Howa though but I'm just sold on the looks of the Rem..

Sorry for all the questions SV, I appreciate your time, I'm just trying to make the most educated decision and you seem to be the man to go to!

:( :( :( :( I miss my Glockmyster 19... She saved my life..

I use to carry 24/7 and one up. Ready to for action.
So to answer your question. I have two holsters, both hip.

The one I would recommend, is made by a bloke called Geoff Carter (I think that's he's surname).
He is very active on gunsite.co.za.
He makes a plastic (for the lack of a better word) inside waistband holster. It rides on your hip, almost love handle height. And conceals pretty well with a t-shirt say the Jeep brand.
Don't expect to conceal with the smaller cut t shirts like quicksilver or so.

I'm back from site work for a while, which gives me time to post and browse on the forum.
I'll see if I can get he's details, just give me a while.
