And often things will change if you live together and with the idea of marrying later... both people tend to tolerate some things expecting they will magically change when the arrangement is formal with some paperwork...

p.s. I too am married, so not against it. Some people are for it, some against. But it isn't something you should go into willy nilly, for religious reasons or other reasons.

I have nothing against the concept of marriage but in my opinion it is "primitive" and not necessary. I reckon in 50 years (or sooner) people won't get married anymore

Was supposed to be getting married this weekend but I kinda freaked out when the planning started in april :silly:

First time was for all the wrong reasons and i'm proof that money doesn't buy love  And eventually after 7 years of marriage walked out with nothing cause i couldn't take it anymore so I'm scared of doing it again.

Get my moments where I want to and then get my moments where i'm grateful that I'm not.

Good luck and let us know how the surprise goes............love romantics, good for you on making it special :woohoo:

You don't get it by wishing, staring, or hoping. You don't get it easy. You get it by working your ass off every single day.

Here is something to put a spin on things: I have been engaged before to another girl, obviously got broken off.

We have been living together for 6 months and it's been a hell of a learning experience. The honeymoon phase is definitely over (in a good way), and we have been dating for two years. I have seen her at her worst, she has seen me at mine. Even when we don't have anything to talk about, we still have a good laugh. She's my best friend and my rock, and I am hers. I have thought about this long and hard, and to be honest, I can't imagine any other qualities that I would want in my wife. Did I mention that she lifts? Hahahaha. It's obvious that we love each other, but even if we didn't, I would still want her in my life because she is more than just a figure of infatuation.

We have talked about the possibility of divorce, and have come up with the plan to include forced couples therapy (10 sessions), before filing for a divorce is even possible. The idea is to set up selves up for success.

In other news, I got a jeweler that is busy putting the design together for me at a very good price. I have two choices of diamonds, either a 0.31 CARAT colour E clarity VS1 OR 0.42 carat Colour J Vs1 (both princess cut). What do you guys think?

If she lifts..............put a ring on it  :silly:

I say go for it bud, love the clause of the therapy sessions and here's to hoping that you never have to use it :woohoo:

P.S. Just a note from a woman to a man: Get a photographer to capture the moment when you propose, the look on her face will make for priceless memories ;)

Wishing you guys many many years of happiness together.

As for the stones, I'm clueless

In the heat of the moment you will come off second best, timing is everything.

Men (we) should realize that woman is not what they used to be 30 years ago, they can match us on basically any field, financially they are giving men carrots. Let your woman spread her wings and fly, you can only benefit from it.

Hey guys!

Sorry for the late update, it's been crazy.

She said yes! Whooo hooo.

I am now officially betrothed to another.

This is what happened: Made her breakfast in bed, told her to get dressed then took her for a two hour spa treatment. Following that, we had a picnic under the same tree that we had one of our first dates at. I told her I want to take a picture of us, and put the camera on a timer, meanwhile I put it on video, then got down on one knee :), got it all on video.

Following that, we got home and I told her she has 30 mins to pack her bags, and I wisked her away to a 5 star hotel for the evening. We had drinks by the pool and went for a swim, followed by some time in our private jacuzzi. We then had a dinner in a private eating hall, filled with candles, rose pedals and proper champaign. When we got to our room, there was more champaign and wine, complements of the hotel and rose pedals everywhere. It was really really awesome.

@rhino, The ring really looks amazing, and I'll post a picture as soon as I get them off the camera.

Congrats 333, the real fun starts with the wedding planning..

It is now my turn to scrape a knee and pop the question. Been looking at rings with the lady, she is into the very simple solitaire look.

Do you guys think it is worth trying to finding an independent jeweler to make it up? My inkling is that for a standard design a retail jeweler might be cheaper due to them popping the simple rings out like a cookie cutter.. your views?
