Social rugby was created by spike
I've got this recent urge to play rugby, and tonight the Departmental team at varsity have a game in the interfaculty league, so im gonna go give it a bit of a spin. Its been years since ive even attempted to play, maybe 5 years ago I played a game for the Departmental team and before that was High School. Im prob 12 kg heavier now than I was then, and all of it muscle, so im quite looking forward to it. Wanna put these shoulders to use and make some beeeg tackles.

Fortunately its very chilled, rolling subs and uncontestant scrums, so my fitness wont come into question... Hoping for a run on at flank, so wish me luck :D The gram of test and dbol may help ;)

Um, but im scared of needles...

Sounds very fun. I might look for something similar in Jo'burg.

Rugby without the possibility of some ogre tackling your ribs off.

Very scaly then. You see, I want to avoid dudes like you.

I haven't played for like 9 years and I'm pretty sure after the first tackle I will cry like a baby

will be playing rugby for the first time next year, semi-social I think. Will try my hand at flank as well, hopefully I wont tear an ACL in the first training session  but looking forward to the physical stuff :cheer: just abit worried about my fitness, haven't done cardio in a year now and that was just walking on the treadmill! Playing at flank is bloody taxing so I might have to put in some pre-pre-season work

Sorry guys Apparently it is true, cause its happened to certain people already, so I’m not taking any chances !!

Its quite amazing the difference of the okes from BB to rugby, a rugby player is probably more solid and hard like nails, BBers are soft but look hard but in actual fact soft.

Spike u gonna see u will make a tackle and u will be like jayzuz what have i got myself into!

I played rugby about 3months ago for the first time in 4yrs and i thought i was gonna die. Thought my hammies were gonna explode. Its amazing how u find out what muscles u have the next day. Stiff and sore all over.

PS: i didnt train legs for at least a week after the rugby match :p

No lets not deadlift as I need a double hip replacement haha

lol I haven't always been a "big boy". I used to weigh 60kg at the same height in high school   I wasn't exactly keen on getting thrown around like a rag doll. Hopefully I'll be up to around 100kg by the start of the season and judging by ndungane being part of the WC squad, I will hopefully be playing tri-nations rugby by july

@snok, the guys playing rugby are naturally big guys with large bone structures and they end up being 10-20kg heavier than what you'd expect them to have. Guys like jacque fourie/schalk burger hardly look like they lift but weigh 100kg and 110kg each

Yeah you got it ight there goatboy, its that natural structure. Those boys weighed close on 100kg in high school. I've got a mate that plays lots of rugger, and he weighs in at anywhere between 97-107kg, but if i stand next to him i look a lot bigger. This is a big benefit in bodybuilding due to weight classes, but not so much in rugby. I have a light bone structure and small joints, 82kg on me looks like 95+ on most guys.
I also weighed in the 60's in high school and was always made to play wing

ha ha you must be mad..... i have stood next to both of them.. trust me they look like they lift  k the structure obviously plays a massive role, but TV does no justice to a lot of these guys. You will kak yourself at the size of a lot of them when you are next to them.. Got to practice with them in high school once and they are just huge

To you it may look like I just did a push-up... But in fact, I just bench-pressed the world.

Let's keep a sense of perspective here, in high school anyone with 16" arms was a beast, if you see them now you wouldn't be impressed at all. Guys like Matfield/Spies/ and the props look huge as fuck though

So true Snok. I got roped into playing a match for Wits a while back. I was on-cycle and went in thinking I was invincible. Half way through the first half got munched in a tackle... paramedics took me off for a while but I insisted on going back on (ready to kill - probably due to the tren). First line-out I started lining up in the wrong line - paramedics took me off again and ended up spending two nights in hospital with severe concussion.

All I can say Spike is, be-careful - those d-bols are probably going to make you see red!

Sitaleki Timani is a lock for tahs 203cm tall 120kgs probably one of the biggest people i have ever seen in person, luckly most of us humans wont ever have to try tackle him...

Haha stuart, maybe i should be trying to find my old scrumcap... My bald head is gonna take a knocking.

I know the fitness is gonna make me suffer, but i have no intentions of starting the lineup or playing the whole game. We have a big squad and are allowed rolling subs so everyone gets a game.
Im just hoping i can live up to expectations, as most the guys in the team are a couple years younger than me, in my little sisters class, and im like an old legend on campus... They always have talk about my build so im sure they,ll be expecting some hard rugby... Dont wanna disappoint the fans now ;)

Um, but im scared of needles...

Yeah thats been my usual concern Koe, its never gonna be my thing, will always be BB... Have previously been too scared of injury but at the moment im bulking nicely, a long way from any comp, and holding enougth water and bodyfat to keep that injury risk down. Would never chance it in season. Tho i had a guy playing for the team i worked with this year who played division rugby up until and after his comp... crazy that is

yeah def agree with all the guys being naturally big. But playing a contact sport like that roughens u up big time makes u hard as nails. If a 130kgs bber and a 100kg rugby player got into a fight i think the rugby player is def gonna come out on top purely coz the rugby player has taken the hits in rucks and mauls ur body comes accustomed to it.

Therefore coming from not playing rugby in awhile and into psychical contact u gonna be in paaaain! also a BBer on the field might look good but that mass is gonna do fuck all for u unless u in the scrum.

No lets not deadlift as I need a double hip replacement haha
