Most of us bodybuilders suffer or will eventually suffer from muscle dysmorphia or bigorexia. I once heard that Guy Shaffer suffers from this badly as he once told someone he still believe he is not big enough, but look at the oke... he is huge.
Muscle dysmorphia symptoms:
- Constantly examine themselves in a mirror
- Frequently compare themselves with others
- Hate their reflections
- Become distressed if they miss a workout session or one of their many meals a day
- Become distressed if they do not receive enough protein per day in their diet
- Use anabolic steroids, sometimes unsafely
- Neglect jobs, relationships, or family because of excessive exercising
- Have delusions of being underweight or below average in musculature.
- In extreme cases, inject appendages with fluid (e.g. synthol)
- Suffers from constant mood swings
- In extreme cases, being grumpy and short tempered
I have to admit that I suffer from a number of the above symptoms and did see a psychiatrist about it. I stopped bodybuilding for two years and things got back to normal, but I started training again recently and already old problems are reappearing... However, so far I'm managing and people close to me is helping to "monitor" the situation and should it become much worse I will probably quit for good.

spike wrote: Hmmm, muscle dysmorphia much? hear all that from my gf every damn day. Jakes im fully with you on that, i like the way i look, but im always evaluating, looking for weak points, checking photos to make sure i look my best... And wherever you go you check out the other okes to make sure you are the biggest or best built. Being big begins to define you, all your mats and people you know , know you as the big guy with the muscles. People will always look and/or comment and this just feeds it. It's very hard to not let it become an obsession. I dont think i could imagine being skinny again, almost feels like when i was skinny i used to just fade into the background... I do enjoy the attention it gets you, at the gym or on the beach.
As for personal goals, right now my goal is 90kg at my current bf... But im sure that'll change should i ever get there

You know how many good looking guys there are at my gym, who have fantastic upper bodies and skinny little legs! Its not cool, and i see them! they dont train legs!!!! why is this such a common mistake for men? Il tell you who has a good body..... Andrew Hudson! He is well preportioned!

Its hot when a guy can lift a girl like a leaf? hmmmm .... my favourite is large pecs, but they must be round and full, i dont like when the nipple is too close to the bottom line of the pec, haha, its hard to explain. But that is soooo sexy on a man. Oh and a dark tan!!! num num.... :woohoo:
