But that is soooo sexy on a man. Oh and a dark tan!!! num num.... :woohoo:

Women like big guys because its instinct. Big guy = good genetics.
Look in nature, the female looks for the biggest/strongest male.

Good riddance to her!

I always make it clear to girls I'm going out with that gym is important to me, and I'm not gonna stop because of them. If they don't wanna be with me because you work out, then they really can't like you that much in the first place, so better not even waste your time with them.

Woman: Where have all the good men gone?
Man: You asked them to be women...

I'm actually quite interested in your response to that?

While on the topic of girls and their opinions on workouts, I don't think I'm made for a girl who isn't leading an active lifestyle already. Went out with girls who weren't exactly active (nothing wrong with their bodies as such, but yeah, lying on the couch all day eating chips is not a lifestyle either).

I remember my one ex, me and her were lying together talking, and this was after I had major stomach illnesses for like 2 months, lost 8kgs (the difference that makes in muscle size is scary). She said to me "I can't wait for you to get healthy again so you can gym and have big arms again". I literally wanted to turn around to her and say "Excuse me?! You've never even jogged a day in your life, now you're here waiting for me to get my figure back?". Differences are good and all that, but when it comes to lifestyle choices it's much harder

admin wrote: I don't believe there are many bodybuilders satisfied with what they have achieved. Most want more and more...

Most of us bodybuilders suffer or will eventually suffer from muscle dysmorphia or bigorexia. I once heard that Guy Shaffer suffers from this badly as he once told someone he still believe he is not big enough, but look at the oke... he is huge.

Muscle dysmorphia symptoms:
- Constantly examine themselves in a mirror
- Frequently compare themselves with others
- Hate their reflections
- Become distressed if they miss a workout session or one of their many meals a day
- Become distressed if they do not receive enough protein per day in their diet
- Use anabolic steroids, sometimes unsafely
- Neglect jobs, relationships, or family because of excessive exercising
- Have delusions of being underweight or below average in musculature.
- In extreme cases, inject appendages with fluid (e.g. synthol)
- Suffers from constant mood swings
- In extreme cases, being grumpy and short tempered

I have to admit that I suffer from a number of the above symptoms and did see a psychiatrist about it. I stopped bodybuilding for two years and things got back to normal, but I started training again recently and already old problems are reappearing... However, so far I'm managing and people close to me is helping to "monitor" the situation and should it become much worse I will probably quit for good.

You spot on the money... I suffer most of them, allot are gone now due to health issues and knowing I can never be there again. But if certain other aspects don't come right, I'm done for good.

That sucks. I've been there. Also had a gf like that. Things didn't workout tho. My new gf is much more supportive, she motivates me and cooks most my meals. I must admit its much nicer. I am open with her, she knows about the steroids and everything involved.

Your gf must understand that you plan on getting bigger, much bigger if possible. Have you spoken to her about this?

It's not what she said that bugged me, I have no problem with my girlfriend supporting me, but expecting me to keep my figure in shape while she does nothing for hers, that's where my problem lay

Look I tend to agree with her, I'm pretty happy with the way I look. I have enough muscle and my main focus now is maintaining it while dropping BF. My GF trains everyday and is superfit so I don't mind her tuning me.

I used to be much bigger (105kg) but I found it quite uncomfortable. I like having muscle mass but not to the point where it starts effecting my athletic ability because I play a lot of squash, touch rugby and recently started cycling. I'm thinking about hitting the stage in April but I'll have to see how dedicated I feel next year.

Most people dont realize the effort that goes into a dedicated lifestyle. Does not matter what sport you do, if you take it seriously there is allot of sacrifices.

I have a strange situation. I look totally different 1st half of the year to 2nd half of the year. June to December i focus on my 1st passion which is cycling. This time of year i am around the 73-75kg mark. Jan to May i focus on my 2nd passion which is weight training. This time of year i am around 80-85kg. Both takes equal dedication. My girlfriend moan at the end of cycling season that im too skinny and she moans at end of my gym season that she does not want me to get bigger. Mostly she really supports me and respects the fact that i dont like going out or take my own food to braais. Lost some friends unfortunately but have great friends remaining. Our lifestyle does put strain on relationships with loved ones and friends but i dont want another lifestyle......at all!

I once had a GF just like that... so glad she's gone...

I have a wonderful partner now and she supports me with everything. Train with me, diet with me have the same interests and she is very gifted with a super hot body... oh, and she cooks like a pro... she gains muscle by just thinking about it and looses fat by eating chocolates... I've never seen anything like that before... after our daughter's birth she had her abs back in 6 months and she did it with hardly any effort.

Fair enough, just wondering. Usually if my gf would tell me to change something or not do something, there had better be a reason. For example, telling a pedophile that perhaps he should consider not touching children anymore, that can be regarded as a positive influence. Telling someone they shouldn't gain more muscle mass (unless it's for health reasons or whatever) is a different story. If I want to live my lifestyle a certain way, then that's my life, if I don't prescribe how she should live hers, she shouldn't prescribe mine. Gym is my passion, love it. But then again, in your situation, glad you're in a relationship where there is still respect and understanding :)

Marriage is a different ball game altogether guys, especially with kids involved, sacrifices are daily and you may find yourself training at 5am just to spend time with your family due to business and work constraints. Sometimes I even had my kids with me in the gym during my precontest as I was always at one of the businesses, gym, cardio.
In all this I have been blessed with a wife who supports me 110%. my kids scream and support me at the shows and motivate me daily.
However if my training and passion is constantly affecting my loved ones I will sacrifice BB too. I love bodybuilding but believe relationships are more important with those closest to you. Friends come and go but the influence I place on my kids and wife is of greater importance.

Just to clarify my statement (just so I don't sound like a dick in light of koe007's post ;) ) allow me to just say, of course family comes first and all that, just saying, when a relationship is still young, don't sacrifice who you are for anyone, if things don't turn out for the best, you might not like who you've become. I've made that mistake, that's why I'm against the idea of just changing or allowing your girlfriend (or boyfriend, for all the ladies out there) dictate who you should be

yeah that is all true, and I'm not about to forgo my goals... Everything is compromise, so I've agreed to control my estrogen levels when on cycle to minimise my moodiness, and I always make time for her... She's had to accept my bodybuilding, but I doubt she'll ever encourage it... Anyway, I can live with that, I don't need any more encouragement :P she's just the type that believes you're perfect the way you are

Too true, I train early morning for that reason! But now my little daughter seems to wake up just as early as me...but mostly she is well behaved, now and then she will take the clamps of my dumbells and duck them, but I gotta make sure I put on some wrist supports or elbow guards for her if I am using any...lol
