Boks, Tri-Nations and WC was created by MCJ
Ok...so the Super Rugby season has come to an end with the Reds being crowned champions for 2011.

So let's now focus on the Boks, the staff, selection and their upcoming fixtures with the climax being the WC!

Currie cup posts are also welcome.

With this new s15 format am I the only who wouldn't mind not having a curie cup this year? Glad they are shortening it next year

Sorry guys Apparently it is true, cause its happened to certain people already, so I’m not taking any chances !!

Well the currie cup will be exciting because its mainly our B team (sharks) so nice way to get new blood in the group... Gives JLP a chance to open again and hopefully play better rugby..

Yeah there has to be a currie cup. Its the worlds oldest provincial tournament and is very well know and admired. This is where we wil see new talent coming into their own. It is also a great format for deserving but unlucky players who didn't make the bok squad to prove the selectors etc wrong.

It would also be very unfair to the smaller unions who are not fully represented at super rugby level. Besides all this the unions will suffer major financial losses due to sponsors and ticket sales and television rights.

Currie cup is as south african as u can get. And must never be allowed to die a silent death.

MCJ you right, it wouldn't be fair on the other teams, like the Griquas who actually play a mean game of rugby.. best way to get exposure..

Ah JLP, the journeyman of SA rugby. Thought he'd be playing for the EP Kings by now :P

@MCJ definitely agree with you on that. Its just that this new s15 has taken the novelty away from local derbies, I mean does the paying public really want to see WP/Stormers beat the Sharks again this year?

i have been following the rugga from this side and i had to laugh at pDV .. i think he should play some of the so called injured players as the tri nations is going to mentally boost the winning team .. SA with the team they are fielding arent going to do well as they wrap the other players in cotton wool ... a consistent team that gels is the team to win the RWC in my opinion and south need to play a regular team and get the wins to boost the mental aspect as well as players and media ..

Lets be real guys, as much as i hope and pray we can pull off a win in October, do you realistically think its possible with the current management and coach? Make no mistake i believe 150% we have the players and talent to do it but sumhow cant see us going all the way. Hell, I hope im wrong !!

@ hennie

I am generally more of a pessimist than an optimist. But I really do feel that we are great contenders for the title. We can beat any team home or away at any given time. If the players have the hunger and commitment then 90% of the coaching job is done.

Very true and i also believe that we CAN be contenders but the management and coaching staff still have to make the combinations, gameplan and create the belief in the players that they CAN do it so the players can just execute the plan to outsmart and outplay the rest but my "gut" tells me that PDV and kie dont have the abbility to do that but as i said " hell, i hope im wrong" !!

SNOK brave but true... no doubt..

LoL... Strongest team I recon at the moment is probably the Cheetahs as they have the least few players part of bok squad, if you look at the amount of players Bulls and Sharks have lost to WC and WP too.. It would show the Cheetahs as being a major force in this years CC, and i'm hoping the Lions too ...

I'm really excited to see this new young Bulls team. Its obvious who I support. Lol

But I'm quietly optimistic about the lions this year and reckon they might just start finding form as all their players have been playing super rugby earlier this year. As long as they don't carry their potential ability to upset across the jukskei rivier....

MCJ, you guys still have big guns in that team, that have played and won super titles. I know 6 of your current lined up guys pretty well..

I am worried about the management. Lets start with Gary Gold, when he was with the Stormers the Stormers had the worst forwards in the super 14, why is the the forwards coach of the Boks?

Dick Muir had mixed results with Natal, mostly good but not great, he made a mock of his time with the Lions, he has had little or no success SOLY as a backline coach.

Pieter de Villiers. Although Jake White came to the Senior side from coaching the under 21's, there was no super 14 winning coach and a world cup winning coach, when he was selected. The obvious choice should have been as follows.

Heineke Meyer - Head coach.
Allistar Coetzee - Backline Coach
Rassie Ersasmus - Tactical advisor
Gert Smal - Forwards Coach
Nienaber - Defensive Coach

But we have what we have and support them we must.

Speak softly but carry a big stick.

Bad luck bro, was at the game, some good rugby by the bulls, not to many mistakes, you controlled most of the first 20 of second half.. I think your team is going to evolve nicely through the Carrie cup
