Interesting Morrgear,

Would you say a Fat:Protein:Carb ratio of 65:30:5 (applying this to your daily macros) is sufficient for good ketosis or should youdrop Protein and increase Fat to eg 70:25:5

But surely if you're peeing Ketones your body is in Ketosis (provided you keep your protein intake low).

Pyro & Furk, your guys input?

Forgot about this thread, I was involved with the t-shirts…
Hold onto your bootstraps lads, because I’m about to f**k your brains with mind-knowledge!

dadbod wrote: Common belief is that you can build lean mass on keto if you protien is min 1g per lb of body mass.

I am primarily trying to cut fat without sacrificing muscle mass. Hoping this experiment does not end in disaster though.

Protons: 1g/pound LBM or BM is out dated, although very much still promulgated in fitness circles. It’s a very conservative “estimate”, meaning that it provides more protein than you need to safely cover your bases.

Keto: You can build muscle on Keto. I’ve seen it many times. You can also push a Citi Golf on a 10km stretch of tarmac; but putting fuel in it and driving the distance is much more efficient. Time vs. goals. From everything I’ve read I firmly believe Keto to be superior to a traditional bro-diet for fat-loss. For muscle-preservation (or building) your lifting experience makes a massive impact, and that’s why I discount studies done on newbies that claim one is better than the other.

Eidolon wrote: For muscle building, you need at least 2g/kg of protein though.

0.82g/lb (1.8g/kg) is the upper limit of benefits. Research shows it. I do believe high protein diets have a place for cutting as it is very ineffective for the body to use it as energy, and because of it’s thermogenic nature, it’s value for calories per gram is closer to 3.7 than 4. Back to protein needs, the intake can be said to be beneficial for up to 2.2g/kg per day for users of anabolic steroids and growth hormone. That’s just because the nature of these substances allow the use of more protein as well as extending the time for protein synthesis to occur.

Morrgear explained it well. The Keto-sticks are an indicator, not a definitive. They measure the ketones going out of your body. If your carbs are non-existent and your protein is in range, then the keto-sticks can be trusted.

Provided Dadbob is aiming for the 2200 he showed in the screen-grab:
Total Cal: 2200
Protein: 111g / 443.592 cal
Carbs: 30g / 120 cals
Fat: 182g /1,636.41 cals

Geez, thats a Fat:Prot:Carb of 75:20:5.

I'm nowhere near that. Currently I weigh 102kg. Using Harris-Benedict (Moderate 3-5xweek exercise)I calculate my daily kCal requirements with a 500kCal deficit to 2600.

By my reckoning my split should be:
Protein: 185g/777kCal
Carbs: 30g/130kCsl
Fats: 183g/1685kCal

Your way comes out to:
Protein: 124g/518kCal
Carbs: 30g/130kCal
Fats: 211g/1944kCal

Am I correct or am I getting something wrong?

My experience was I started with protein at the 1g per lb of estimated lean body mass and then adjusted down. My lean mass at the time (much lighter then than now) was about 63kg so about 140g. I needed to go down to about 110g protein, with 30g carbs and the balance fat to stay in Ketosis. I tried throttling the protein up and I jumped out. Interestingly a major trigger for going out of ketosis was diet drinks. Not sure why. Can only assume the artificial sweetener causes the the liver to produce glucose - its tricked into it - for me. Critically you need to start with a guesstimate and adjust if you don't win. Unfortunately to really measure it properly you need the blood ketone meter. Once you have been in ketosis you can then go by feel - you know when you are in (1) appetite drops and (2) you have this weird mental, clarity.

You should of been on hcg since week three, none the less you still have time.
500iu per week till end of bridge, split in two doses. 250 Thurs 250 sun example.
Think you have used enough orals, I would use prop and just drop it 14 days before pct, will keep you nicely anabolic.
As hard as u pushed on cycle, push harder through pct and thereafter.
When u ready to blast again I would recommend npp and prop, nice results, lean muscular results.

5000iu HCG arriving tomorrow. I want to confirm: shot is done with insulin syringe at 45° angle in the belly?

That will be fine, try stay in the range of a max of one inch around the belly and no further when injecting. Sometimes it stings a little sometimes you feel nothing. Soon you will have elephantitis. :P

Had a 5 week weight and measure today:

Weight 98.6 》102kg
BF 13.9 》12%
Muscle mass 42.4 》44.1kg

No clear ab definition yet.

Question:
1. Do I stick to keto or
2. Go to a 50/30/20 split and pack on some decent muscle?

I have never run keto and at a stage had serious mass with abs. A good macro split with the right supplement s you can gain the lean mass and still grow massively.

Thanks Fillet. What split & calories would you suggest? After pct & 12 weeks off in going with npp & test prop as suggested

For me:
Coming off cycle I kept the same calories I left on, if I gained slight fat I would increase cardio.
For your new cycle when ready I say 500 calories more on off days 1000 calories more on training days.

Some will say drop calories when coming off cycle but I never have in the six years that I have abused steroids, never got fat.

50, 30, 20 is my happy place and I watch my physique to ensure I grow without fat.

You will get many opinions I'm sure
