For the price, this Lion whey looks good. How's the flavours? I usually stick to vanilla.

Currently using Evox Synergy.

No probs don't worry :-) I can get it in three flavours but will only do 1 at this stage, because of the minimum qty.

They can do it in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry- which one do you guys think will be the overall best? They all taste great and mix very easily.

Chocolate, it you have to pick one. But Malawians might have different tastes

Are you going to make it commercially available in SA too?

Eidolon

Only if Admin gives me the heads up- then I might do it yes- not to step on toes- but it will be cheaper than Lion's. But we are all after quality for cheaper prices right? We are really being ripped off in SA with all supplements- It is a shame

Morning brothers in steel

Ok got the heads up from Admin. You can mail him for my email address. B)

I can get Glanbia Whey Protein Concentrate or Isolate. Or I can get a blend like Optimum Nutrition's 100% Whey Gold Standard which is 50% Isolate and 50% Concentrate.

As I have to take a minimum of 100kg we will have to vote which Whey to go for first- I suggest we go for the blend. And then we can decide on one flavor- chocolate, strawberry or vanilla. They are all good

Eidolon suggested Chocolate so Choc is in the lead right now.

Here is what it will sell for, packed and labeled, and I can send my drivers to deliver in Gauteng for free as they are always on the road- for okes outside of Gauteng we can add R70 for overnight courier counter to counter. Pretoria deliveries will be the next day, JHB within 3 days, or if you are in a hurry we can do overnight courier.

Glanbia Whey
Whey protein concentrate flavored - R132 per kg
Whey Protein Isolate Flavored - R170 per kg
Whey Protein Blend (50% Concentrate and 50% Isolate) Flavored- R150 per kg.

We need to get orders together for at least 50kg- the balance I can swing in Malawi, but will keep a couple of kgs for the forum aside once we start. So I guess if you are interested we should vote on type of whey as well as flavor. It will take me about a week and a half to get the first order ready.

Herewith nutritional info:
Isolate

And Concentrate

Hey People,

Firstly awesome forum.
Secondly looking at this forum and this debate about the best whey protein and the source of the protein make me debate the arguments set here. So basically you guys are saying Glanbia is the best? Thats biased because the best whey protein is the whey with the highest protein content. WPC is 80% so its still just 80g protein. You cannot say its the best because ON uses it. ON uses it because they were probably the closest and since Glanbia bought them so they are getting the whey at very cheap prices. Secondly ON Gold Standard is not good because they use Glanbia. They are good because they got a very high protein ratio with lots of isolate and whey peptides. WPC80 is WPC80, doesn't matter where it comes from. MMartial you can't say LION is awesome because they use Glanbia...so what. If they used Fonterra it would be the same. What I do like about them is the fact that they are transparent(atleast you know you are not getting chinese whey) and secondly they have a very high protein ratio of 80g/100g. But thats it. Nothing more. Fonterra makes exactly the same WPC. Other then the bag with a logo on, it's exactly the same. Can't make the argument its better because it's Glanbia lol

The Carbs are insanely high. 10g!!!!!!!! and only 77g protein. Fonterra is 79g protein and 5g carbs. Epic fail

Hennie you don't want to take in more than 35g of protein at a time or it will go to waste as you can only process 35g of protein at a time- so you will have to take 41g of protein powder to get 35g of protein.

I believe if you do a blend of WPC and WPI the total protein would be 85%.

Pinenut like I said I have samples of the Glanbia whey- and it mixes much better than Fonterra. Yes I do have fonterra whey as well and I do have another blend from Australia which is 80.8% WPC- it is called Agri-Best- but none of these can compare to Glanbia's.

It mixes superb, completely and easily and it tastes great. Tastes and works just like ON's.

Anyway- whey is whey I agree, but why do you pay R450 for 940g of ON? Why have ON's whey been rated the best Whey protein in the world every year since 2005?

Cigarettes is cigarettes- but you can't compare a R7 packet of Princeton with a R35 packet of Camel. But their both cigarettes with similar amounts of nicotine...... hoor ek......sê hulle- ek rook lankal nie meer nie

Haven't tried their vanilla yet. Their chocolate is good. a Natural cocoa chocolate not too sweet. Their berries and cream is the best I have ever tastes in a whey. They did something right there.

That is 10g of carbs per 100g of protein powder- you won't use more than 45g of protein powder in a go- it will more likely be 3 - 4g carbs per serving.

True but remember ON is owned by Glanbia so they obviously get the most cutting edge raw products Glanbia has to offer. Thats is why they are rated the best. And I doubt if they will share that raw products with other supplement companies they dont have shares in since they will shoot themselves in the foot. They will basically give away the reason ON sells so well and limit their own profit and marketshare so highly doubt it.

i read and heard 60g is the maximum amount of protein absorbable in a serving. even that doesnt make sense...my 45kg gf absorb the same as i do at 90kg? max uptake is determined by individual.
pls dont talk about serving sizes?talk percentages.
again, servings are determined by an individuals dieet, there is no standard serving size that fits all.

i dont think any conclusion was reached which is the best whey, that will have to factor availability, quality, taste and price.
i would also be interested in your product ondier, 80percent is pretty good,i will mix it as a flavourant for my basic supplements wpc.

please point me in the directions of these things saying that u can absorb more than 35g porein at a time,i am sorry thats bullshit, your protein needs are individual,i can belive the 35g per serving IF u are a non training person and a desk jockey wanting to live,35g protein 3x a day i can under stand that but u need to realise that the body has functions that need protein! hair growth, cell regeneration, nail growth, cell function etc, so i would say the body needs at least 1g of protein per LB of body weight for just those functions.

and do u honestly think nutritionist such as hany rambod, chris aceto, george farah only give thier athletes 35g of protein per serving? ummm get real guys, that rule doesnt apply to everyone! do u think jay cutler eats 35g of protein 6x a day? how about 300g of meat after cooking 6 times a day,so u looking at like 400-450g of raw weight chicken, fish or steak, thats over 60g of protein per day.

Agree with Dj I def absorb more than 35g protein per serving. On the whey issue, it all boils down to individual choice, my body responds best to ON. I enjoy Ssn when cash is an issue, evox I like as well as was said before whey is whey is whey. Use what works best for you and stick with it. I like PGW and Lp now its all I use other guys at my gym like Nomad its their choice.
Ondier thanks for trying to make this available to us affordably, I support that.

Greetings peeps. I've read these forums and it seems I can bring some light on the subject of supplement prices since I worked for a few. Supplements are not expensive because companies exploit the people, the are expensive because of VAT that increases their prices with more than 30% when the end user finally purchases it. Furthermore it is also expensive because you have to pay for your licence and permit to sell nutritional products and your certificate of clearance from the Department of Health. Failure to have these documents is a criminal offence and punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment or a fine of up to R200000 if they catch doing business in nutritional product and manufacturing without it. That is unfortunately the way things work in any country with tax. I hope you have the necessary documentation Ondier otherwise you are looking for trouble. All the best. And SSN,SPS and Evox are all good options for a whey brand.

Brothers Molten & DJ

I just used 35g as a sample for the average Joe- obviously a 15 year girl or someone's grandma won't consume the same amount of proteins per serving or per hour as Cutler does.

We all know it is not an exact science- everyone must find what works for him. 35g per meal times 6 meals is 210g of protein for the day which will be good for guys in the higher 70's and lower 80's right DJ?

Anyway- that is not what this thread is about and if I am trying to make a buck out of this as well, I won't put down loooowww figures of protein- just was an example. (Phil Heath consumes 9400 calories per day, of which 910g is protein)

But yes agree Molten- will work on percentages rather than serving sizes.

Madley I don't have these in place- but as far as I know it is legal to buy in bulk and just repack and sell- I am not doing any manufacturing or mixing myself. If this thing kicks off and it looks viable- I will get all of that in place.

Ondier the moment you open the bag, flavour and repack it, it's a new nutritional product according to law and requires clearance and certification. And for good reason as well. Say somebody gets sick somehow from the whey you sell because of a bacteria that somehow got in and the person gets a R100000 medical bill due to complications. Who is responsible and liable for the bill? Will you pay the bill? Supplement companies have insurance for things like that to compensate people. And it does happen. Not so much but it does. If you don't have clearance and certification you are not even viable for insurance. Look at the new Consumer Protection Act brought to power this year. There are also a lot of new regulations regarding labeling and liability clauses as well for nutritional products. Mixing companies are never responsible, they are too well protected so you carry liability and responsibility. Just some food for thought
