Knowing me, I'll probably creatine load for a few months straight lol. Thank you man, didn't know if there were a lot of fillers and flavorers in the product. Not too bad actually price-wise.

Furk wrote: Muschle Pharm BCAAs

Was forced to buy cause I ran out of my regular suppliers stock. Not impressed.

Price: Typical, Expensive brand name supp so no surprise. 5/10
Purpose: Pure BCAAs, no bullshit or filler. 10/10
Taste: Sh!t tier, but that's normal for pure BCAAs. 5/10
Mixing: Not even once, I have to drop 10mg down my throat straight. The only way that it could mix less efficiently, is if it was insoluble oil. 2/10
Overall: 5.5/10 Never again. Blergh!

Share the same sentiment on this, bought it assuming premium product would have premium qualities.
Mixed like crap, had to shake before each sip.
Worst tasting bcaa's I've ever had & this was unflavoured.
Definitely not worth the high price.

On a separate note if anyone is looking for a quality pre workout. Try out prosupps Mr Hyde. the focus and pump is insane. Mixes well, tastes nice and price is decent. Also available in a 5 scoop container so you not stuck with a huge tub if it doesn't work for you.

Okay guys, I get to try out many supplements, I can’t do an unbiased review of all of them, because the quantity given is always suffice to justify an opinion. Like fat burners, if you only have enough for a 2-4 day test time you can only asses them as pre-workouts, not for fat fighting ability.

Quest Bars
After the recent arrival of GNC these bad boys started popping up. Guess I'll spread my opinion here.
Price: (4/10) Ungodly expensive. Range from R38 at supermarkets, to R25 at GNC branches.
Nutrition: (8/10) The best macro split I’ve seen in protein bars ever. The difficulty with protein bars is keeping texture and consistency while keeping a high protein profile. Quest bars does it really well. There is no lying on packaging, all ingredients listed, and no borderline-suspicious chemicals used. No sugar added, makes heavy use of whey protein blends. Calories and macros vary between flavours, but they are generally mainly protein and fat, miniscule carbs and loads of fibre.
Taste: (9/10) We don’t get all flavours in South Africa, so the ones I’ve been privileged enough to try are below. They have a very genuine taste, you know Strawberry whey or milkshake tastes nothing like strawberries? This is not the case here. Everything tastes real.
Cookies ‘n Cream: Tastes like real Oreos. Genuine texture. Very good.
S’mores: Nothing special, maybe Americans will appreciate it more.
Double Chock Chunk: Very good
Chocolate brownie: Very good
Choclate Mint: Best mint flavor I’ve tasted
White Chocolate Raspberry: Next level. Legitimate delicious.
Vanilla Almond Crunch: Favorite flavour. It tastes so natural and the texture is awesome.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough: Good.
Cinnamon Roll: Good.
Coconut Cashew: Very authentic. Very good.
Banana Nut Muffin: Very good.
Peanut Butter Supreme: Very good.
Purpose: (9/10) To replace a meal on the go, these are extremely well suited and convenient. Just expensive. I will not be able to afford to buy them myself on a regular basis.
Overall: 8/10

Checked the Quest bars out.
20g Protein
24g Carbs per 60g bar.

Thats 50/50 like most protein bars.
24g Carbs in a 60g bar thats far from minuscule.

It is on you. It always has been...

Muscletech, the original nonsense-marketing masters. I walked past the supplement section @ Dischem over the weekend (Dischem is for needles not for supplements btw ;) ) and I kid you not I saw 4 different types of Hydroxycut. What. The. F**k? As far as pre-workouts go, I'm not buying anything until I can find something with AMP Citrate in. Confirmed stim-junkie  .

Hey dude thanks for the heads up. As far as I know, AMP citrate is also refered to as "DMBA", "methylpentanamine" and "1,3-dimethylbutylamine", so new addition of "2-Amino-4methylpentane Citrate" :P

I see the ingredient list varies. If I ever see it around I'll grab one that contains AMP Citrate. Found a cool info page here: DMBA Info page for any curious readers.

SmartShake Shaker

Quality: Crap. My flip-top broke, had to repair with silicon. The mesh inside designed to help mixing just causes a mess if your working with powders. If you mix your shake and take the lid of, liquid sticks to the mesh and leaks everywhere. So you pretty much have to drink through the "spout".

Design: 2 lower holders (for pills/ powder) are good but becoming standard. Also the lid and components don't always screw nicely.

Size: Good, big enough. At least they got that right.

Overall: 4/10 I think I got mine at a promotion at Dis-chem or something. My Evox shaker is still the greatest.

Hey Demo,

I have not tried PS whey, and I probably won't. On paper it's alright. It's a whey blend of concentrate and isolate. Although Isolate is theoretically the best source of highest quality complete protein, I am a strong proponent of blends. Especially if it has a bit of casein in. Per scoop it has 2.5g fat and 3g carbs. I can't disclose my own business because that would breach rules against advertising and compromise my identity, but mine has 1.2g fat and 1.9g carbs. I use that as a yard-stick against other brands, but maybe PS Whey tastes like heaven therefore those macros can be justified (let's face it, difference is not big). Their Product called PS ISOLATE looks totally legit though.

Okay I've been waiting to talk about then "twins" for a while. Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hyde is basically a 2 part pre-workout right, they compliment each other. Usually I do my own my favourite being TitanLabs (old) Beserker and Nutritech Vaso-NO3, Beserker is a good stimulant kick and Vaso-NO3 for pump and blood flow. But with "twins" it's not that straight forward, because both of them have a bit of each PLUS an anabolic component.

Hyde
Stimulants: Caffeine blend (blend>anhydrous), Yohimbe extract, Choline bitrate
Pump: Creatine, agmatine sulfate, l-citrulline

Jekyll
Stimulants: Caffeine, choline bitrate
Pump: glycerol, l-citrulline, agmatine
Anabolic/anit-catabolic: L-luecine, HMB (very cool)

Plus there are other goodies like Vit-B, GABA and others. So I'd really like to try each individually, and together. If you give it a go let me know what's up. I've heard only good things about it.

Haha ok that's my opinion, perhaps soon I'll give a review of SSN NO Rage (the newer week formula I've heard) and another pre I can't remember the name right now...

Hey Lobo, thanks for keeping an eye out, but I think you're mistaken. 5% Nutrition's new supplement is called Mentality and it's a focus product. Haven't encountered 5150 yet.

Hey guys

I take it with a grain of salt, but i saw Marc Lobliner says the PS Whey is some pretty good shit. so i dunno maybe i will try it. I just hate paying so much for supps. I used to get raw ingredients from Pharmaceutical suppliers, but thats also getting expensive.

I like my Optimum Whey but thats R950 a month... I got some samples of Evolve Nutrition's (local brand) whey blend and that actually looked and tasted pretty good. The powder was very fine and "dusty" , and reminded me of how the unflavoured whey isolate and concentrate looked when i got that.

Lobiner is a business owner, CEO, and most importantly a salesman. Not giving him a go, but after he makes a comment like that, I'm pretty sure Tiger Fitness stocks PS.

I obsoletely cannot justify these ludicrous prices for supplements. All I know is the raw products including whey and the flavourings are not so expensive. Take a look how often Tiger Fitness has BOGO sales. A person selling at a smaller profit margin won't make enough money out of a sale like that. Just from observational stand point, I'm not an expert on the supplement producing process, just judging from the numbers I've seen. Also take note Optimum Nutrition and ProSupps aren't local. You can't expect to get the product in ZA at the same price as country of origin.

Some local companies will also increase prices due to the retarded exchange rate cause some raw ingredients are imported. Yeah the new 5% Nutrition product is called Mentality but not solely a pre, as lots of people take it in morning cause it gives u a boost throughout the day.
@Fakey Yeah I've been loving the Cinnabomb whey and also take their BCAAs daily. I also got great results from their pre Dynamite but not sure if they still make it.

I might be wrong but I think nutritech is the only sa brand that has had the contents of their products verified after there were some issues with it some time back. I enjoy their whey its good bang for ones buck saw the other day there's a new flavour granadilla out.
